At New Beginnings Birth Center, we believe that birth is a sacred event that must be honored as such…
The impact of labor and birth on a woman is profound, and has the ability to empower families beyond our estimation. We believe there are many powerful elements operating in the birth process that must be respected and our role as midwives is not to try to control these elements, but rather to empower the woman and her partner to work with them in the most personal and effective way for the safest, healthiest outcome.
This is your birth. A completely personal event, we recognize that privacy helps some women feel safest to move through labor more comfortably. During labor and birth, we observe and monitor you unobtrusively.
Birth is not an illness. Unnecessary restrictions serve no purpose and only inhibit an otherwise normal process that is quite individual. At New Beginnings Birth Center, we encourage you to eat, drink, and move around during labor as you wish. You are given the option to choose to birth in any position that feels right to you on a birth stool, in a full or supported squat (using our squatting bar), on your hands and knees, semi-reclining on the queen-sized bed, or in a birthing tub.
With great trust in and respect for the healthy process of pregnancy and birth, we consistently affirm that your body was made to do this. We know what you are capable of and we acknowledge the innate wisdom of your body and your baby. We provide you with a sensitive, safe environment; encourage the support of a doula and make available many natural comfort measures and techniques to allow you to cope effectively with labor and birth.
We always seek to balance the need to observe and monitor with the need to wait, watch and trust.
