Sarah Ballard is a Midwife for New Beginnings Birth Center. She is an Idaho native who followed her childhood dream of caring for women and babies. Although it began as a underlying passion, Sarah decided to pursue Midwifery after two years of University. She researched schooling options and interviewed with several Midwives, including the team at New Beginnings, and was granted an apprenticeship in September 2011. In 2014, Sarah earned her credentials as a CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) and LM (Licensed Midwife) in Idaho. Sarah has attended over 200 births, with more than 50 as primary Midwife.
In June 2013, she and her partner, Patrick, welcomed their first child into the world. Aveline was born at home, surrounded by a loving birth team, and received by her father’s hands. Sarah loves her new role as a mother. Sarah is fascinated by the world around her. She takes pleasure in spending time outdoors, leisure reading, research, food and nutrition, crafting, and game nights with friends and family.
Simplicity is welcomed and appreciated by her. A favorite vacation for Sarah includes pitching a tent in the wilderness, while leaving civilization behind. Fishing before dawn, exploring nature by day and sharing memories around the campfire well into the night.
After witnessing birth for the first time, when a dear friend invited her to the birth of their second child, Sarah’s belief that childbirth is a natural and sacred life event was reinforced. Her passion resides in helping others, and empowering people on the whole. She desires to help our families build a strong foundation from which they can learn and grow into their roles as parents, time and time again. With respect and appreciation for the choices women make surrounding pregnancy and birth, Sarah feels that is what is of utmost importance – the right to informed choice. She is committed to protecting the sanctity of birth and knows that to do so means guarding the rights of women.
